I Ranked a Site #1 on Google — Then Watched ChatGPT Start Citing It Without Any GEO Work

Standard SEO took a client site to #1. Then ChatGPT started citing it. Here's the breakdown of why.

That's the entire list. No AI-specific tactics. No GEO tooling. Just fundamentals, executed with discipline.

The Unexpected Discovery

Around 6 month, the client mentioned a new lead had said something like: "ChatGPT recommended you." I assumed it was a one-off. Then it happened again. I started testing the exact queries people might use, and the site was showing up as a cited source in ChatGPT and Perplexity answers.

No GEO campaign. No AI-specific content pass. It had happened as a byproduct of doing SEO correctly.

Why This Actually Happened
